Isaac Log Rolling by Desert-Poppy Isaac Log Rolling by Desert-Poppy
I...finally finished! For my 100th deviation! :happybounce: Go me! :D  I've had this lineart sitting on my computer for over a year now! I'm so excited to get it done! ^^

Isaac and crew from my favorite game, Golden Sun! :la: While playing, I always wondered how Isaac (or Felix in the second game) was able to stay on a rolling log without falling into the water. Isaac here is sure trying his best, while Mia is worried for him, Garet is cheering him on, and Ivan is completely amazed he managed to stay on this long. :D

On the picture, I'm really happy with how this turned out. I think I did a good job on the shading, which is not my strong point, but practice makes perfect right? ;) The only thing I'm not quite happy with is Isaac's hands, the splashing water, and foam. At this time, I don't think I can do better on it. Well, better get practicing! :D

Please tell me what you think about it! :squee:

Thank you! It took me quite a while, but I'm very happy with this; it payed off! :la: And I even made their reflections murky like they really are in water! :D

Nice work here! I love Isaac's precariously balanced pose and his billowing scarf! Also I adore the multicolored water, and I think you portrayed the reflections of the characters in the water very well! While I do like the splashing water effects, I think the foam is a bit jarring to the surrounding water, and could benefit the picture much more if it was lessened. Also, just a small suggestion for future artworks, a lot of times water will reflect the surrounding ground (in this case grass) not just people and objects in the vicinity! It can often help to look up references for ponds or the type of body of water you're planning on drawing. Overall though this is really a delightful piece; I love the energy and creativity! Great job!

Thank you for your lovely response! ^^ I enjoyed the reflections a lot. I added them in and then realized the reflections shouldn't look as crisp as the real people, so I made it look murky and it worked out over all! :la:
Yeah, I had the most trouble with the foam and splashes. I'm not too happy with them, but as I spend 0 hours a week using Photoshop, I'm not sure how I can get better.
Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun drawing this!
