This is my entry for the GoldenSun-club's contest! www.deviantart.com/journal/Ade…

A few weeks ago, I noticed only one person had entered, and felt like there needed to be more entries! (And now there are) I've always wanted to enter a Golden Sun Contest but never quite had the time. So this was a great opportunity for me to enter a fun contest! :la:

So here we have Mia, now a Fire Adept. She was always such a sweet, mild character as a Water Adept, I wondered how she would be if she were the opposite, a firey personality! I think the result turned out really well ^^ As for her outfit, I studied existing Golden Sun females, and took notice they all had boots, so I knew Mia needed boots as well so she would fit in with the GS universe. I knew I wanted to give her a skirt, but had more trouble with the top half. Finally I doodled something off to the side and BAM! Perfect! I love how her top appears to have armor much like the other GS characters, and the see-through sleeves are a nice touch. As for her staff, I colored most of it green-blue so it would match her hair more, and blend in.

When it came to shading her hair, I had a little trouble there too. My usual way of shading hair (you can see previous examples in my gallery) wasn't working out for her. I always wanted to try a cell-style way of shading so I went for it!!! And I think it worked reallllly well! I'm so happy with how her hair turned out! ^^ I think I'll try this style more often! I also had fun with the fire twisting up her arm. I figured out how to draw it easily, and now I'm more confident with drawing fire ^^

So here's Mia, the Fire Adept! She's standing on the top of Ankohl Ruins, after she and her party climbed up there.

I'll also include pictures of her without the sun (I couldn't make up my mind if the sunstreaks were too distracting or not, but they're pretty!) And also with just her and no background so you can just focus on her. I really liked her just being there, but I wanted a background too. You decide which you like better! :D

Given how much blue Mercury adepts have in canon, using the opposite colors would be a challenge, but I think you did a nice job combining it. Interestingly enough, the overall look I get from this picture reminds me of coral reefs, given their vibrant colors under the bluish ocean waves. In addition, I like the elegant pose you gave her. (and those earrings look really pretty)
